In Deepening Light (1989)
In Deepening Light (1989) was first performed at the 1989 Huddersfield Festival by Robert Black and Anthony de Mare, to whom the work is dedicated. The doublebass part consists entirely of natural harmonics: luminous, fragile sounds enhanced by muted piano and the natural resonance of the doublebass. In Deepening Light was commissioned by Robert Black through the generosity of the Canada Council.
